Doors - Flavigny-sur-Ozerain
All of these photos were shot on a Canon Ixus 100. i wish i had a better camera to travel with, but all things considered the shots turned out pretty decent.
The majority of these shots were taken at this old medievel town in Burgundy called Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, made famous by the filming of Chocolat. It was a surreal experience Mum and I drove through countless little French villages whilst on our travels the major feature of these towns being built around old chapels and churches and these towns being somewhat modernised with gravel roads schools etc. However this village on a mountain top looking over the countryside was bordered by a massive concrete wall within its contents lie a seemingly desolate age untouched space. One of the only sounds that we heard when walking arounf Flavigny were my footsteps on the gravel. This tiny community of retired artists, musicians, chefs, farmers all seem content to stay indoors and see out their days decaying beautifully with their surroundings.
See post "Transport" for other photos from Flavigny...the cars.
Washed Out - Feel It All Around

Brisbane disco overlord and internet troller
Luke makes really good mixes and re-edits of chilled out dis-goo and now has all his highly illegal mixtapes for download in one convenient location.
Dance music that doesn't beat you over the head with its giant fluorescent muscly prong.
Kid also knows the exact time at the party to drop 'no scrubs' by TLC.

Lest We Remember
i've been tossing up the idea of getting a tattoo for a while, ads street cred, makes you 10% tougher, signifies a point in your life, stops you from getting a suit job, body arts in and i;m all for following trends and depending on your choice can 'hurt' you for the rest of your life.
I'm all for pro Aus and it can be done tastefully however.......

No Trend - Teen Love
fucked up punk a la Flipper and Drunks with Guns and Homostupids.. title song is epically good (kind of like Popular by Nada Surf but abit more cynical and evil and funny)
This wouldn't be for everyone, in fact I doubt anybody besides maybe Crazy Nick that reads this blog will enjoy this, so here you go Nick. Enjoy.

White Heaven - Out
Early 90s Japanese psych. Sung in English. Chilled out (spacey/desert rock) compared to most other Japanese bands I get down with. Occasional freak out but kind of like a moan-y Australian singer (Tex???) playing with Crazy Horse or something (haha I think that was a pretty retarded and inapt description but I'm sticking to my guns). Warm and fuzzy and all things that are good.

Heartless Bastards
This song makes me want to save a dickload of $AU go to Tullamarine and get the next flight to anywhere on a bad conversion rate.
BEAT HAPPENING + BLACK TAMBOURINE.
Beat Happening and Black Tambourine are two of the best lo-fi indie-pop (cringe) bands from the 80s. Tiger Trap on You turn me on is one of my all-time favourite songs and the title track has this weird cramps-y but still pop vibe that works too well together. Black Tambourine are abit more fuzzy (Jesus and Mary Chain but with female vocals) than beat happening but still very much pop songs about falling in and out of love, and as everybody knows these two periods are far better than the actual 'we are stable and in love' period.

Maybe my favourite Neil Young record. You probably already own this but whatever, somebody might not. Judging by the microscopic crowds he pulled at Big Day Out (for a headliner anyway) early in this year the world is a worse place than even the biggest pessimists amongst us imagined.
It's even .zip for those who haven't quite gasped the .rar concept yet.
