dananananaykroyd-sissy hits

Saw these dudes at splendour and besides the religious experience that is the flaming lips or the copious thick talk with stevo on sunday night, this was proabably a highlight. I remember reading there artist profile that threw around big words like Fugazi, Blood Brothers and heaven forbid Sonic Youth and thinking 'yeah I bet'. But in all honesty they do kind of have elements from these previously mentioned band (along with Thursday) along with a fair chunk of poppy goodness. Haven't listened to the album yet but this EP I got a few weeks back seemed to contain some of the better tunes they played on Sunday. Apparently one of them broke their leg in Sydney the other night and after seeing them live this comes as no shock.

TONSTARTSSBANDHT- An When

I don't really know what to say about this one (more so than my usual retarded rumblings on music) but this has really ruled my world this last week (along with gerling). Like gerling these guys play music of many different genres, only when gerling breaks it into clearly defined periods of the band this guys do it all on one tour CDR. ranging from Animal Collective-like vocal loopage to chrome-like scuzz rock (think shitty Stooges demos if your lost here). I have no idea if it works as well for other people but you should find at least one gem on here you are quite fond of.

NYC Scenester Bites the Dust

Following in the naked footsteps of Ryan McGinley, Nan Goldin, Richard Billingham and all that shouldn't be seen artist, photographer etc etc Dash Snow died at 27" due to a drug overdose. As a non taker i cant relate but his legacy has definately been left.

From a wealthy influential family he lived how he wanted, now dead his work may be taken more seriously, he documented his life as fucked as it was he seemed content.

Google this shit - saatchi gallery + dash snow
