Vang vieng, is a small town in Laos that is now over run by backpackers and banana pancake stalls. Magic mushrooms are in abundance, and in most of the cafes there is normally a happy menu that sells opium tea, "joits" and happy shakes. None the less it is beautiful, massive cliffs overhang the river. Hire a tractor tube for something like 10 dollars and float down the mekong stopping at each bar scattered along either side of the river. It is like schoolies for adults but with more doctor Dre and cheap Lao whiskey that comes in buckets.
