SECRET BIRDS RULIN'

I used to skate once 2009. (late june)

Fun night were Brisbane turns into a 'hip' city once a year. Trust me, only about 5% of the people there ever skated on anything but a Zflex. (I think I'm going to start the 'I used to ride a Fixie once' night soon because it might just be a hit). Quality of decks wasn't as impressive this year I thought but maybe thats because my eyeballs were rollin in the back of my head because I finish uni for the semester that evening. Can however remember secret birds being Tribal

NOTE: HD is on, pretty useless for current video as sound quality is the same.

Brain Children- S/T EP.

Dudes out of ooga boogas/eddy current and agents of abhorrence come together and release a EP on stained circles, cool. However hhen I heard rumours of these guys doing an electro pop side project I thought it was about as big a joke as the album cover (come on.. agents of abhorrence are a grindcore band for heavens sake). But just like the cold cave album I posted a couple of weeks back, if these guys had a different label/ marketing campain they would be playing parklife next month (in a good way). This is totally mindless stuff to listen at a BBQ or something, especially when God thought it was ok for it the be 32 degrees in August.

I don't know if it is a joke but either way it really works.

P.S. its like 20 dollars at any good record shop so don't be a dick, these guys deserve your money more than some dickhead on modular.

Lou Reed- Transformer

recently had a chat with jim about how I tried to get into lots of VU and Lou Reed solo stuff when I was abit younger purely because I thought you had to listen to Velvet underground otherwise you were a square. Although I kind of 'got' velvet underground as much as the next faux-british-looking-18-year-old-boy at ric's trying to pash a slightly-chubby-girl-with-a-bob-cut-and-stripey-shirt, I really never liked Lou Reed in the slightest. A few (not many) years wiser I am in love with this guy like not many others. Make Up is probably the best track this guy has ever done (in my lazy eyes)
cross dressing, herion injecting, hanging from the roof shit, this nigga was bob dylan for the counter counter-culture.

Winter Pool Parties. .

Charlie took half of these photos // look through his flickr to mind more dope shit like this...

Wooden Shjips- Volume 1

By the looks of things James is on an acid binge set to last the entire week!

Wooden Shjips are a member in the current crop of San Fran bands along with Comets on Fire, Assemble Head etc (Assemble Head will probably get a post later on this week). They play churning distorted guitar riffs that are equally owing to the deserts of Cali as the factories of Germany (peyote-desert-krautrock???) with some minced out vocals.. these guys totally air towards the more pleasant side of drone-y psych.
Volume 1 is a collection of there first few singles which I still find to be there best.

Pat Can I Join Psychedelic Week? As I Live With Gypsys...

As for the 13th Floor Elevators - listening to this will make you want to research 'that sound' pop down to your local Tandy to buy an electric jug only to find out you took shit to literally. Anyhow Tommy Hall is one of the only people that should touch this, as for the jug...Mi Goreng

The Psychedelic Sounds of 13th Floor Elevators

If you like The Doors and don't own this album your a tit. Classic, classic psych-garage record that I'm not going to rave on about for too long. Simply put if you've ever dropped acid and stared at a cloud or hated the idea that Woodstock of our generation had Fred Durst and rapists instead of Jefferson Airplane and free love then you should own this.

Pyschedelic week on burnyouragenda

Just got back from an quick grieving visit to Sydney and thought I'd try to bash out a few posts of a certain genre before I leave again for Melbourne.
Am attempting to post a nice variety of pysch stuff at one-a-day for the entire week. Those who know me will doubt my commitment to finishing the dishing let alone remembering something for an entire week but here it goes (YN)<-- thats fingers crossed if you never tried to get girls on msn.

Where In The World Are You

Wasn't going to post for ages but then i found this on my computer today..

when it comes to directing models i am pretty shit. I prefer just taking photos as things happen naturally. I took this photo for a uni assignment, think you get the idea? This is a digital image, no photoshop.

On the topic of New york scenesters..

Ryan McGinley.
Where Dash Snows polaroids seem to focus on the failings of the human condition, McGinleys photo's are a celebtration of life and youth culture, they make me want to sell everything i own, hit the road and get nude all at the same time.
