Jonathan Fire Eater

So we've all heard of The Strokes and The Walkmen but these early 90's "junior rock n roll gravediggers" from New York are said to be "the most hyped young group that nobody has ever heard of". Before the band even bought out an album interviewers across the globe had to pay the record label for a phone interview.  Within their contract they wrote in a dental plan as their manager was missing most of his teeth. This kind of excitement and unprecedented hype was unheard of for a mod NY punk rock band. (not exactly true but stick with me). The band members were Stewart Lupton (vocals), Tom Frank (bass), Paul Maroon (guitar and pedal steel), Matt Barick (drums), and Walter Martin (organs, keyboards).

After a band breakdown...drugs/pressure being the most cited reason Maroon, Barrick and Martin went on to form The Walkmen.

I guess the New York scene, record labels and The Strokes, learnt from Jonathans mistakes.
